Vinefruit Tree

This average-sized fruit tree grows up to 14 feet (4.3 meters) tall and lives for up to 25 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 39 years old. It is very resistant to disease but is susceptible to destructive insect infestation.

It has a flexible, slanted trunk covered in hard, rough, light brown bark, and inside, the flexible wood is yellow.

The branches are tall, rigid and upright and are covered with large amounts of huge, very thin leaves with tattered edges. The leaves themselves are either blue or magenta, with turquoise edges.

In early spring, it produces lots of giant, violet blossoms with circular petals with a bell-shaped floral cup. They are very delicate and have an overpowering scent that smells like perfume.

In mid-autumn it produces small, long, curved fruit. The waxy bronze skin is peel-able and inedible, and the slightly crunchy subtle red flesh is savoury and sticky. The gold seeds are large and are scattered throughout the fruit.

The roots are shallow and grow straight down, and overall the tree is sturdy and difficult to uproot.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together densely, with clear space between them.
