Turquoise Spined Caudiciform

This modest-sized caudiciform grows up to 13 feet (4.0 meters) tall. The tapering stem is yellow-green, and is covered in hundreds of rigid turquoise spines. It has a straight, slender, orange trunk atop a very thick mess of ridged, exposed roots. The branches are slender and gray-green and are short stubs.

The toothed-edged, long, tapering leaves are either copper, or sky blue with pink patches. They are rigid, but detach easily.

It is quick growing, taking 3 months to reach maturity. Once mature, and only under the right conditions, a single flower with amber petals and a deep yellow central disk grows at the top, reappearing after 4 years, but only when the conditions are right again. The flower head is largely flat with dozens of widely spaced round-tipped petals. It has an intense scent that smells like pine needles.

The caudiciform's skin is thin, the cyan flesh is rough, and the deep red sap is thin.
