Violet Fruit Tree

Fruit Tree type: Deciduous (Grows along the ground or other low surfaces.)

This enormous fruit tree grows up to 46 feet (14.0 meters) tall and lives for up to 25 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 61 years old. It is very resistant to destructive insect infestation but susceptible to disease.

It has a branched, angular trunk covered in cracked, brown and grey bark, and inside, the dense wood is burgundy.

The thick clumps of branches are tall, rigid and upright and are covered with small amounts of miniature, very thin leaves with irregular edges. The leaves themselves are beige and lilac.

In early spring, it produces lots of tiny, yellow blossoms with wide petals with a tube-like floral cup. They fall easily and have a fairly strong scent that smells like damp.

In early winter it produces small, V-shaped fruit. The fuzzy red skin is delicate and inedible, and the very soft lilac flesh is overwhelmingly bitter and oily. The red seeds are large and are scattered throughout the fruit.

The roots are thick and spread across the surface, as well as underground, and overall the tree is sturdy, flexible, and difficult to uproot or break.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together densely, with grassy ground between them.
