Bloodberry Tree

This short fruit tree grows up to 6 feet (1.8 meters) tall and lives for up to 15 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 35 years old. It is very resistant to destructive insect infestation but susceptible to disease.

It has a narrow, wonky trunk covered in thin, knobbly, silver bark, and inside, the very light wood is yellow.

The tangled mess of branches are tall, rigid and upright and are covered with large amounts of large, 3 pointed leaves with jagged edges. The leaves themselves are lilac and blood red.

In early spring, it produces large amounts of tiny, blood red blossoms with circular petals. They fall easily and have a strong scent that smells like fruity.

In mid-autumn it produces , broad, flat fruit. The rubbery green skin is stretchy and edible when roasted; it is sour, and the crunchy blood red flesh is extremely sweet and very dry. The crimson seed is large and sits at the end of the fruit.

The roots form a tightly packed ball, and overall the tree is sturdy and rigid.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together, with clear space between them.
