Coilberry Tree

This big fruit tree grows up to 33 feet (10.1 meters) tall and lives for up to 20 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 59 years old. It is very resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a thick, straight trunk covered in fine, silky, mahogany-coloured bark, and inside, the flexible wood is light brown.

The small handful of branches trail down to the ground and are covered with large amounts of large, circular leaves with smooth edges. The leaves themselves are generally indigo.

In early spring, it produces several medium-sized, white blossoms with slender, pointed petals with a tube-like floral cup. They are sturdy and have a delicate scent that smells like rotten egg.

In late autumn it produces , spherical fruit. The rubbery dark yellow skin is peel-able and inedible, and the crunchy light red flesh is spicy and juicy. The cream seeds are large and are scattered throughout the fruit.

The roots are shallow and grow straight down, and overall the tree is sturdy, flexible, and difficult to uproot or break.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together, with the space between them filled with thick undergrowth.
