Shrub type: Deciduous (Grows upwards by winding itself around other objects and plants.)This short shrub grows up to 1 foot (30.5 cm) tall and lives for around 53 years. It is somewhat resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.
It has dozens of very thick, curved stems covered in thin, ridged, white with black speckled bark, and the wood inside is burgundy-brown.
The branches are tall, rigid and upright with dozens of twigs that and are covered with copious amounts of huge, pleated, leaves with toothed edges. The leaves themselves are green with blue tips, flexible and sticky.
In early summer it produces a thick sheet of giant, turquoise flowers with 7 spiral shaped petals. They are sturdy and have a weak scent that smells like sweat.
It is said to be able to live for hundreds of years.
It is almost impossible to grow from cuttings.
It is suitable for making baskets and the like
