Waterstem Tree

This short fruit tree grows up to 7 feet (2.1 meters) tall and lives for up to 15 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 30 years old. It is very susceptible to disease and insect infestation.

It has a long and flexible, straight trunk covered in very thick, ridged, yellow bark, and inside, the hard wood is pale brown.

The small handful of branches trail down towards the ground and are covered with small bunches of tiny, thick leaves with tattered edges. The leaves themselves are found in drab purple, peach and beige varieties.

In early spring, it produces a thick sheet of large, blue blossoms with wide petals. They detach easily and have a weak scent that smells like cinnamon.

In early summer it produces small, needle-like fruit. The soft pink skin is thin and edible when boiled; it is sweet, and the very soft brown flesh is sweet and bitter and oily. The crimson seed is small and sits at the top of the fruit.

The roots grow as a near perfect mirror of the tree above, and overall the tree is sturdy and rigid.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together densely, with grassy ground between them.
