Emerald Crescent Moss

This gray-green moss is commonly found growing in large clumps On rotten logs, and In marshes.
It is giant, growing up to 1.6 feet (48 cm) tall. It forms in small clumps and they are slow to spread and grow, and is extremely rigid.
When mature, emerald crescent-shaped capsules grow at the end of elongated, lime green sporophytes, eventually opening up during the early winter to release thousands of spores.
