Copperleaf

Shrub type: Deciduous (Grows along the ground or other low surfaces.)

This giant shrub grows up to 15 feet (4.6 meters) tall and lives for around 34 years. It is somewhat resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has many narrow, angular stems covered in hard, ridged, burgundy and brown bark, and the wood inside is black with white speckles.

The branches are tall, rigid and upright with dozens of twigs that and are covered with small bunches of small, sickle shaped, leaves with wavy edges. The leaves themselves are found in intense orange, copper and turquoise varieties, sturdy and waxy.

In late summer it produces lots of medium-sized, green flowers with spear shaped petals. They are very delicate and have a fairly strong scent that smells like pot-purri.

It is suitable for making strong rope
It is almost impossible to grow from cuttings.
It only grows on the most fertile lands.
