Burgundy Fanflower

This small flower grows up to 3 inches (8 cm) tall. Its burgundy stem is thick and splits into 6 branching stems at the base, and the large, brown leaves are fan-like with smooth edges. A pair of leaves grow at the base of the flower head.

Two tiny flowers sit at the end of each stem. The flowers are 19 cm (7.5 inches) wide, with each petal a slightly different shade of dark orange. The flower head is largely flat with dozens of tightly layered round-tipped petals. They are hardy.

It has an intense scent that smells like rainy days, and it has lots of pollen. It is pollinated by a small species of bird.
