Climbing Caramelvine

Flower type: Annual (Grows upwards by clinging to almost any surface.)

This small flower grows up to 2 inches (5 cm) tall. Its burgundy stem is very thin and splits into numerous branching stems at the base, and the miniature, green leaves are 3 pointed with smooth edges. The leaves alternate on the stem from the base up to about halfway.

Many small flowers grow in drooping bunches like grapes. The flowers are 5 cm (2.0 inches) wide, with caramel petals that gradient shift to cyan on the outer edge. The central disk is beige. The flower head is largely flat with many widely spaced narrow petals. They detach easily.

It has a scent whose strength depends on external factors, such as soil quality and rain frequency that smells like onion, and it has lots of pollen; it can cause severe allergic reactions. It is pollinated by insects and is visited by a large variety of them.
