Caramel Violet Black Fruit Tree
Fruit Tree type: Coniferous (Grows upwards by clinging to almost any surface.)This large fruit tree grows up to 43 feet (13.1 meters) tall and lives for up to 25 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 33 years old. It is susceptible to disease and destructive insect infestation.
It has a very thick, straight trunk covered in paper-thin, smooth, dark gray bark, and inside, the very light wood is black with white speckles.
The sparse amount of branches trail down to the ground and are covered with very large amounts of huge, wide leaves with rounded edges. The leaves themselves are found in caramel, violet and black varieties.
In early spring, it produces handfuls of medium-sized, purple blossoms with long, tapering petals. They detach easily and have a scent that varies in strength that smells like freshly baked bread.
In early winter it produces small, 6 pointed fruit. The waxy purple skin is tough and inedible, and the crunchy white flesh is bitter and oily. The hazel seeds are tiny and are scattered throughout the fruit.
The roots spread far and go deep underground, and overall the tree is rigid and brittle.
Forests of this species feature trees spaced far apart, with grassy ground between them.
