Desert Sunflower

This enormous flower grows up to 7.5 feet (2.3 meters) tall. Its dark brown and gray-green stem is thick, and the huge, yellow leaves are perforated with jagged edges. Many leaves grow along the entire length of the stem.

A single medium-sized flower sits at the end of each stem. The flowers are 96 cm (37.8 inches) wide, with orange petals and a yellow center. The flower head is shaped like a cube with 14 tightly layered, round-tipped petals. They fall easily.

It has a scent whose strength depends on external factors, such as soil quality and rain frequency that smells like rotting meat, and it has very little pollen. It is pollinated by insects and is enjoyed by several specific types of insect.
