Copper Shield Moss

This copper moss is commonly found blanketing large areas In heathlands, and On rotten logs.
It is big, growing up to 10 inches (25 cm) tall. It forms in thin clumps and they overwhelm an area rapidly, and is very flexible.
When mature, emerald shield-shaped capsules grow at the end of elongated, lime green sporophytes, eventually opening up during the mid-summer to release dozens of spores; it can cause severe allergic reactions.
