Clingshade Fruit Tree

This big fruit tree grows up to 25 feet (7.6 meters) tall and lives for up to 30 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 38 years old. It is very resistant to destructive insect infestation but susceptible to disease.

It has a very thick, wavy trunk covered in silky, dark brown bark, and inside, the dense wood is pale brown.

The excessive amount of branches trail down across the ground and are covered with very large amounts of tiny, stiff, pointed leaves with serrated edges. The leaves themselves are a shade of pink-red that gradient shifts to bronze at the top.

In early spring, it produces handfuls of small, cream blossoms with needle-like petals. They detach easily and have a soft scent that smells like marzipan.

In mid-summer it produces , oval fruit. The leathery vibrant yellow skin is delicate and edible when cooked; it is spicy, and the crunchy silver flesh is salty and powdery. The silver seed is tiny and sits at the end of the fruit.

The roots are shallow and grow straight down, and overall the tree is sturdy and difficult to uproot.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together, with patches of undergrowth between them.
