Silverwillow

Shrub type: Deciduous (Grows along the ground or other low surfaces.)

This modest-sized shrub grows up to 4 feet (1.2 meters) tall and lives for around 14 years. It is very resistant to destructive insect infestation but susceptible to disease.

It has numerous slender, straight stems covered in fine, waxy, silver and white bark, and the wood inside is dark brown.

The branches trail down to the ground that and are covered with small bunches of small, very narrow and elongated, leaves with tattered edges. The leaves themselves are faded yellow and silver, sturdy and covered in fine hairs.

It produces copious amounts of tiny, bronze flowers with pleated petals. They fall easily and have the faintest scent that smells like sugar. In late winter it forms tinycaramel, tough-shelled seeds.

It is suitable for creating flexible, durable textiles
The colour changes depends on whether the soil is acidic or alkaline.
