Crimson Spine Succulent

This colossal caudiciform grows up to 153 feet (46.6 meters) tall. The asymmetrical stem is slate or turquoise, and is covered in dozens of flexible crimson spines. It has a wavy, thick, gnarled, slate trunk atop a bulbous clump of cracked, exposed roots. The branches are stocky and slate and gray-green and are long, thin and wispy.

The jagged-edged, oval-shaped leaves are either vivid orange, or crimson with deep yellow edges. They are delicate, but are very difficult to pull away.

It is steady-growing, taking 11 months to reach maturity. Once mature, a single flower with petals that are generally indigo; each flower tends to be a variation of this colour grows at the top, reappearing once every 8 years. The flower head is made up of 7 petals in raised layers. It has an intensely strong scent that smells like rainy days.

The caudiciform's skin is very thick, the crimson flesh is soft, and the lime sap is thin and causes vomiting if consumed.
