Crimson-Yellow Leaf Succulent

Succulent type: Leaf succulent (Stores water in its leaves)

This modest-sized leaf succulent grows up to 53 feet (16.2 meters) tall. The wide stem is emerald, and is dotted with small bronze spines. The ripped-edged, stiff, pointed leaves are crimson on the sides and deep yellow at the center. Large amounts of them grow from the base in a symmetrical pattern. The leaves are flimsy, and detach easily.

It is quick growing, taking 3 months to reach maturity. Once mature, a single flower with petals that are generally indigo; each flower tends to be a variation of this colour grows at the top, reappearing every year. The flower head is made up of 7 petals in raised layers. It has a faint scent that smells like coconut.

The leaf succulent's skin is thin, the light grey flesh is soft, and the brown sap is thin.

All parts of the cactus are edible.

It can survive a very long time without water.
