Copperleaf

This modest-sized tree grows up to 59 meters (193.6 feet) tall and lives for centuries, with the oldest known specimen being around 352 years old. It is very resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a sturdy, wonky trunk covered in silky, light gray bark, and inside, the flexible wood is copper-coloured.

The branches are tall, rigid and upright and are covered with handfuls of smooth, small, very thin leaves with ripped edges. The leaves themselves are found in indigo and copper varieties.

In early spring, it produces a handful of small, light green blossoms with perforated petals with a trumpet-shaped floral cup. They are hardy and have a strong scent that smells like cheese.

In late summer it forms large, silver, winged seeds that spin and fall nearby.

The roots are thick and spread across the surface, as well as underground, and overall the tree is sturdy and rigid.

Forests of this species feature trees spaced far apart, with clear space between them.
