Aquafruit Tree

Fruit Tree type: Deciduous (Stores water in its leaves)

This modest-sized fruit tree grows up to 16 feet (4.9 meters) tall and lives for up to 20 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 35 years old. It is somewhat resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a thick, angular trunk covered in paper-thin, smooth, dark green bark, and inside, the very hard wood is light brown.

The small bunches of branches are short, rigid and upright and are covered with sparse amounts of huge, circular leaves with serrated edges. The leaves themselves are silver with sky blue tips.

In early spring, it produces a handful of medium-sized, slate blossoms with wide petals. They detach easily and have a powerful scent that smells like bleach.

In mid-summer it produces , long, tapering fruit. The fuzzy lime skin is peel-able and edible when roasted; it is sweet, and the very soft brilliant blue flesh is salty and juicy. The washed-out orange seeds are large and are scattered throughout the fruit.

The roots form a tightly packed ball, and overall the tree is sturdy and difficult to uproot.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together densely, with patches of undergrowth between them.

The sap is red.
The leaves and petals are often used to make tea.
