Cliffvine

Fruit Tree type: Deciduous (Grows upwards by clinging to almost any surface.)

This modest-sized fruit tree grows up to 18 feet (5.5 meters) tall and lives for up to 45 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 76 years old. It is susceptible to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a narrow, angular trunk covered in thick, wrinkled, burgundy and brown bark, and inside, the dense wood is light brown.

The branches are short stubs and are covered with handfuls of large, wispy leaves with tattered edges. The leaves themselves are solid aquamarine with blood red splotches.

In early spring, it produces handfuls of medium-sized, deep yellow blossoms with cylindrical petals. They are hardy and have a strong scent that smells like cigarette smoke.

In mid-autumn it produces tiny, long, straight fruit. The leathery blue skin is delicate and edible when boiled; it is sweet and spicy, and the very soft vibrant green flesh is sour and very dry. The white seed is small and sits at the top of the fruit.

The roots are fine and grow in a large web, and overall the tree is rigid and weak, and breaks apart easily.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together, with the space between filled with undergrowth.
