Crimson Bindweed

Climbing plant type: Bine (Grows upwards by winding itself around other objects and plants.)

This big bine is a steady-growing plant, with the largest known specimen reaching a length of 118 feet (36.0 meters) and growing as high as 145 feet (44.2 meters). It prefers to grow on rock formations.

It takes 19 months for the yellow-green stems to mature, by which point they can reach a diameter of 9 inches (23 cm) and are rough and fibrous.

The asymmetrical, soft leaves reach up to 2.7 feet (81 cm) in length. They are either peach, or orange with light brown splotches, and have ripped edges.

During late spring, the bine produces lots of large crimson flowers.


It is suitable for creating tough, hard-wearing textiles
It is almost impossible to grow indoors.
