Copperstar Cactus

Succulent type: Stem succulent (Stores water in its stem)

This large cactus grows up to 78 feet (23.8 meters) tall. The needle-like stem is gray, and is covered in many rigid caramel spines.

It is very slow growing, taking 34 years to reach maturity. Once mature, and only under the right conditions, a handful of flowers, with petals that are hazel on the underside and copper on the top, grow at the top, reappearing after 8 years, but only when the conditions are right again. The flower head is shaped like a star with 26 widely spaced, narrow petals. It has an overpowering scent that smells like rotting meat.

The cactus's skin is nearly impenetrable, the light grey flesh is rubbery, and the crimson sap is thin and can cause blindness if consumed.

It comes in 17 varieties, each with a different leaf colour.
