Copperleaf Tree

This small fruit tree grows up to 8 feet (2.4 meters) tall and lives for up to 15 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 19 years old. It is very resistant to destructive insect infestation but susceptible to disease.

It has a slender, twisting trunk covered in rough, copper-coloured bark, and inside, the medium-dense wood is pale brown-grey.

The small clumps of branches trail down across the ground and are covered with large amounts of small, thin leaves with ripped edges. The leaves themselves are copper and caramel.

In early spring, it produces large amounts of giant, azure blossoms with triangular shaped petals. They are very delicate and have a strong scent that smells like an ocean breeze.

In late summer it produces tiny, finger-like fruit. The clammy white skin is delicate and savoury, and the very soft lime flesh is salty and sticky. The silver seed is tiny and sits at the top of the fruit.

The roots are shallow and grow straight down, and overall the tree is sturdy and difficult to uproot.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together densely, with grassy ground between them.
