Copperpeach

This average-sized fruit tree grows up to 10 feet (3.0 meters) tall and lives for up to 15 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 31 years old. It is not very resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a wide, straight trunk covered in paper-thin, wrinkled, yellow bark, and inside, the soft wood is yellow-brown.

The small clumps of branches are very long and thick and are covered with copious amounts of small, needle-like leaves with smooth edges. The leaves themselves are light yellow and cream.

In early spring, it produces a handful of medium-sized, copper blossoms with crescent-shaped petals with a trumpet-shaped floral cup. They are very delicate and have a weak scent that smells like lavender.

In mid-summer it produces small, wide fruit. The leathery peach skin is stretchy and inedible, and the soft lime flesh is spicy and savoury and oily. The hazel seed is very large and sits at the end of the fruit.

The roots are thick and spread across the surface, as well as underground, and overall the tree is rigid and brittle.

Forests of this species feature trees spaced far apart, with the space between filled with undergrowth.
