Copperwing Tree

Tree type: Deciduous (Grows along the ground or other low surfaces.)

This big tree grows up to 71 meters (233.0 feet) tall and lives for decades, with the oldest known specimen being around 113 years old. It is very resistant to disease but is susceptible to destructive insect infestation.

It has a thick, straight trunk covered in hard, waxy, brown-green bark, and inside, the dense wood is burgundy.

The branches trail down across the ground and are covered with copious amounts of leathery, giant, 2 pointed leaves with rounded edges. The leaves themselves are copper at the bottom and violet with gold patches at the top.

In late summer it forms large, olive, winged seeds that float and land far away.

The roots form a tightly packed ball, and overall the tree is rigid and weak, and breaks apart easily.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together densely, with clear space between them.

It is suitable for making strong rope
It aggressively steals nutrients from other large plants (but not each other).
It is possible to grow it from cuttings.
