Waterstem Oak

This small tree grows up to 6 meters (19.7 feet) tall and lives for centuries, with the oldest known specimen being around 577 years old. It is very susceptible to disease and insect infestation.

It has a sturdy, wavy trunk covered in very thick, ridged, brown-green speckled bark, and inside, the light wood is mahogany-coloured.

The small bunches of branches are short, rigid and upright and are covered with copious amounts of leathery, large, needle-like leaves with wavy edges. The leaves themselves are hazel and bold green.

In late summer it forms medium-sized, hazel, spiky-shelled seeds.

The roots are long and grow straight down, and overall the tree is sturdy and rigid.

Forests of this species feature well-spaced trees, with the space between them filled with thick undergrowth.
