Copperleaf

This modest-sized shrub grows up to 4 feet (1.2 meters) tall and lives for around 78 years. It is not very resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has many thick, crooked stems covered in cracked, yellow bark, and the wood inside is burgundy-brown.

The branches are short stubs with dozens of twigs that and are covered with small bunches of huge, stiff, pointed, leaves with jagged edges. The leaves themselves are copper on the sides and grey at the center, resistant and clammy.

In early spring it produces dozens of large, olive flowers with sickle shaped petals with a bell-shaped floral cup. They fall easily and have an intense scent that smells like rich perfume.
