Coilbloom

This average-sized shrub grows up to 4 feet (1.2 meters) tall and lives for decades, with the oldest known specimen being around 110 years old. It is very resistant to destructive insect infestation but susceptible to disease.

It has dozens of very thick, straight stems covered in delicate, cracked, mahogany-coloured bark, and the wood inside is pale brown.

The branches trail down towards the ground with thousands of twigs that and are covered with thick bunches of small, finger-like, leaves with toothed edges. The leaves themselves are florescent yellow on the edges and bold green at the center, durable and soft.

In mid-spring it produces a handful of large, copper blossoms with crescent-shaped shaped petals. They fall easily and have a scent whose strength depends on external factors, such as soil quality and rain frequency that smells like fish.

In early autumn small asymmetrical fruits ripen. The sticky lilac skin is peel-able and inedible, and the soft copper flesh is sour and oily. The light grey seed is large and is in the centre of the fruit.
