Clinging Silkwood

This large tree grows up to 71 meters (233.0 feet) tall and lives for centuries, with the oldest known specimen being around 614 years old. It is susceptible to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a narrow, straight trunk covered in silky, white with black speckled bark, and inside, the dense wood is gray.

The abundance of branches are short stubs and are covered with very large amounts of clammy, large, pleated leaves with jagged edges. The leaves themselves are either dull green, or green with vivid purple patches.

In late summer it forms medium-sized, black, winged seeds that spin and fall nearby.

The roots are shallow and grow straight down, and overall the tree is sturdy, flexible, and difficult to uproot or break.

Forests of this species feature trees spaced far apart, with clear space between them.
