Beige Firemoss

This hazel or beige moss is commonly found blanketing medium-sized areas On rotten logs, In moorlands, and In rainy mountain ranges.
It is short, growing up to 2 inches (5 cm) tall. It forms in small clumps and they overwhelm an area rapidly, and is overwhelmingly light; it struggles more than most during dry spells.
When mature, emerald triangular capsules grow at the end of elongated, lime green sporophytes, eventually opening up during the mid-autumn to release thousands of spores.
