Bloodflower

This short flower grows up to 6 inches (15 cm) tall. Its subtle orange and blood red stem is thin and straight, and the miniature, moss green leaves are thin with smooth edges. The leaves alternate on the stem from the base up to about halfway.

Dozens of medium-sized flowers grow in a bunch at the end of the stem. The flowers are 1 cm (0.4 inches) wide, with each petal a slightly different shade of muted blue. The flower head is made up of 26 petals; the lower layer of petals are flat, while the upper layers form a tight cup. They are sturdy.

It has a fairly strong scent that smells like something putrid, and it has an average amount of pollen; it does not cause many allergic reactions. It is a self-pollinator, but is also visited by a variety of insects.
