Bloodspine Succulent

This short caudiciform grows up to 9 feet (2.7 meters) tall. The thin stem is green, and is covered in large amounts of flexible brown spines. The wide, blood red trunk can grow to as much as 9 feet (2.7 meters) in diameter. Its pink-red branches trail down towards the ground.

The rounded-edged, long, narrow leaves are bright green with peach tips. They are resistant, and take little effort to detach.

It is very slow growing, taking 45 years to reach maturity. Once mature, several flowers with petals that are bold purple on the edges and light brown at the center grow at the top, reappearing once every 3 years. The flower head is an uncoordinated mess of up to 50 curved petals. It has a strong scent that smells like cotton.

The caudiciform's skin is extremely thick, the lilac flesh is rough, and the indigo sap is thin.
