Clinging Bluefruit Tree

Fruit Tree type: Deciduous (Grows upwards by clinging to almost any surface.)

This huge fruit tree grows up to 70 feet (21.3 meters) tall and lives for up to 35 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 52 years old. It is very resistant to destructive insect infestation but susceptible to disease.

It has a narrow, curved trunk covered in rough, dark green bark, and inside, the soft wood is dark brown.

The small bunches of branches are very long and thin and are covered with handfuls of giant, very thin leaves with ripped edges. The leaves themselves are a shade of green that gradient shifts to brown at the top.

In early spring, it produces thick bunches of large, blue blossoms with 8 triangular shaped petals. They are sturdy and have an intense scent that smells like rotten egg.

In late summer it produces , long, straight fruit. The sticky sky blue skin is peel-able and savoury, and the soft blood red flesh is spicy and syrupy. The yellow seed is small and is in the centre of the fruit.

The roots are fine and grow in a large web, and overall the tree is sturdy, flexible, and difficult to uproot or break.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together densely, with patches of undergrowth between them.

Several parts of the vine have medicinal properties.
It is almost impossible to grow from cuttings.
It is suitable for making strong rope
