Bronze Thorny Succulent

This modest-sized leaf succulent grows up to 16 feet (4.9 meters) tall. The thick stem is bronze, and is covered in lots of flexible light brown spines. The pebble-like leaves are found in purple, yellow and yellow varieties. Small bunches of them grow on thick, gnarled, bronze branches that are short stubs. The leaves are light, but are very difficult to pull away.

It is slow growing, taking 17 years to reach maturity. Once mature, a single flower with petals that are generally magenta; each flower tends to be a variation of this colour grows at the top, reappearing once every 7 years. The flower head is an uncoordinated mess of up to 30 curved petals. It has a powerful scent that smells like chocolate.

The leaf succulent's skin is rock-hard, the intense orange flesh is rubbery, and the yellow sap is thin.
