Emerald Capsule Moss

This gray moss is commonly found growing in small clumps On rotten logs, and On trees.
It is modest-sized, growing up to 5 inches (13 cm) tall. It forms in thin clumps, and is slightly hardy.
When mature, emerald cylindrical capsules grow at the end of elongated, lime green sporophytes, eventually opening up during the late summer to release hundred of spores; it can cause severe allergic reactions.
