Coniapple Tree

This colossal fruit tree grows up to 56 feet (17.1 meters) tall and lives for up to 20 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 37 years old. It is very resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a knobbly, straight trunk covered in very thick, ridged, yellow-brown bark, and inside, the dense wood is yellow-brown.

The branches trail down to the ground and are covered with small bunches of tiny, stiff, pointed leaves with toothed edges. The leaves themselves are blue and amber.

In early spring, it produces balls of giant, peach blossoms with spear shaped petals with a trumpet-shaped floral cup. They are sturdy and have a scent that varies in strength that smells like misty mornings.

In late summer it produces tiny, long, narrow fruit. The leathery light grey skin is delicate and inedible, and the slightly crunchy azure flesh is savoury and sticky. The muted green seed is small and sits at the end of the fruit.

The roots are thick and spread across the surface, as well as underground, and overall the tree is rigid and weak, and breaks apart easily.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together, with patches of undergrowth between them.
