Marsh Flame Moss

This dark brown and silver moss is commonly found blanketing small areas In marshes.
It is modest-sized, growing up to 6 inches (15 cm) tall. It forms in small clumps and they are exceptionally hardy, and is slightly resistant; it can easily endure flooding and draughts.
When mature, emerald flame-shaped capsules grow at the end of short, lime green sporophytes, eventually opening up during the early autumn to release dozens of spores.
