Climbing Silverbloom

This enormous flower grows up to 11.3 feet (3.5 meters) tall. Its green stem is very thin, and the large, silver leaves are stiff, pointed with jagged edges. The leaves alternate on the stem from the base up to about halfway.

Each stem splits 3 to 6 times; a single small flower grows at the end of each split. The flowers are 93 cm (36.6 inches) wide, with solid brown petals and a bronze central disk. The flower head is shaped like a sphere made up of handfuls of tightly layered, round-tipped petals. They are hardy.

It has a fairly strong scent that smells like coffee, and it has lots of pollen; it can can cause allergic reactions. It is pollinated by a small species of bird, but is also visited by a small species of bird.
