Conifruit Tree

Fruit Tree type: Coniferous (Stores water in its leaves)

This small fruit tree grows up to 6 feet (1.8 meters) tall and lives for up to 40 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 46 years old. It is not very resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a knobbly, straight trunk covered in very thick, wrinkled, brown-green speckled bark, and inside, the very light wood is yellow.

The branches trail down across the ground and are covered with very large amounts of small, long, tapering leaves with jagged edges. The leaves themselves are dark brown on the edges and blue at the center.

In early spring, it produces lots of large, cyan blossoms with spear shaped petals with a trumpet-shaped floral cup. They are very delicate and have an intensely strong scent that smells like onion.

In early autumn it produces tiny, fan-like fruit. The crispy sky blue skin is delicate and edible when roasted; it is bitter, and the slightly crunchy pink flesh is spicy and sticky. The yellow seeds are large and are located in the centre of the fruit.

The roots are shallow and grow straight down, and overall the tree is sturdy and difficult to uproot.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together densely, with patches of undergrowth between them.

It can survive a long time without water.
It is suitable for creating strong, durable textiles
