Spiky Magentum

This short caudiciform grows up to 12 feet (3.7 meters) tall. The wide stem is green, and is covered in thousands of flexible light brown spines. It has a curved, very thick, olive trunk atop a very thick stilted platform of silky, exposed roots. The branches are thick and pink-red and are long and slender.

The tattered-edged, very thin leaves are a shade of gray that gradient shifts to magenta at the top. They are resistant, but are very difficult to pull away.

It is quick growing, taking 9 months to reach maturity. Once mature, and only under the right conditions, a handful of flowers, with petals that are generally violet; each flower tends to be a variation of this colour, grow at the top, reappearing after 8 years, but only when the conditions are right again. The flower head is an uncoordinated mess of up to 50 petals. It has no scent.

The caudiciform's skin is thick, the drab blue flesh is rough, and the dark brown sap is thin and can cause blindness if consumed.
