Heathland Brown Moss

This brown moss is commonly found blanketing small areas In heathlands.
It is short, growing up to 3 inches (8 cm) tall. It forms in thick clumps, and is slightly sturdy; it can easily endure flooding and draughts.
When mature, emerald triangular capsules grow at the end of short, lime green sporophytes, eventually opening up during the early summer to release thousands of spores.
