Crimson Peach Tree

This small fruit tree grows up to 9 feet (2.7 meters) tall and lives for up to 20 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 29 years old. It is very resistant to destructive insect infestation but susceptible to disease.

It has a narrow, crooked trunk covered in hard, silky, brown bark, and inside, the dense wood is gray.

The small bunches of branches are very short and thick and are covered with copious amounts of giant, stiff, pointed leaves with serrated edges. The leaves themselves are crimson on the sides and cream at the center.

In early spring, it produces balls of medium-sized, peach blossoms with 8 V-shaped shaped petals. They fall easily and have a soft scent that smells like warm milk.

In mid-summer it produces large, slender, 3 pointed fruit. The crispy olive skin is peel-able and inedible, and the crunchy crimson flesh is sweet and sour and oily. The pastel red seeds are tiny and are scattered throughout the fruit.

The roots form a tightly packed ball, and overall the tree is sturdy and difficult to uproot.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together densely, with the space between filled with undergrowth.
