Aquafruit Tree

This short fruit tree grows up to 5 feet (1.5 meters) tall and lives for up to 20 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 39 years old. It is not very resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a thick, crooked trunk covered in fine, ridged, dark gray bark, and inside, the very dense wood is white with black speckles.

The extensive patches of branches are short stubs and are covered with handfuls of small, wide leaves with smooth edges. The leaves themselves are solid cyan with orange patches.

In early spring, it produces many balls of small, vibrant purple blossoms with fan-like petals with a trumpet-shaped floral cup. They are very delicate and have a soft scent that smells like misty mornings.

In early autumn it produces small, stiff, pointed fruit. The crispy brown skin is peel-able and inedible, and the very soft peach flesh is savoury and very juicy. The green seeds are tiny and are dotted around on the skin of the fruit.

The roots are shallow and grow straight down, and overall the tree is sturdy and difficult to uproot.

Forests of this species feature trees spaced far apart, with patches of undergrowth between them.
