Crimson Spine Cactus

This small cactus grows up to 11 feet (3.4 meters) tall. It splits near the top to form 3 perforated stems. Each stem is pink-red, and is covered in handfuls of flexible grey spines. The spherical body is cyan, and is covered in sharp spines.

It is slow growing, taking 14 years to reach maturity. Once mature, and only under the right conditions, a handful of flowers, with solid faded red petals decorated with dark grey lines and a faded red central disk, grow at the top, reappearing after 2 years, but only when the conditions are right again. The flower head is made up of 4 petals in raised layers. It has a strong scent that smells like fermented fruit.

The cactus's skin is rock-hard, the yellow flesh is leathery, and the bright blue sap is thin.
