Bluefire Vine

Climbing plant type: Creeper (Grows along the ground or other low surfaces.)

This short creeper is a quick growing plant, with the largest known specimen reaching a length of 13 feet (4.0 meters) and growing as high as 217 feet (66.1 meters).

It takes 5 months for the green stems to mature, by which point they sometimes have a diameter of 3 cm (1.2 inches) and are rough and woody.

The very narrow and elongated, crispy leaves reach up to 4 inches (10 cm) in length. They are a shade of pink-red that gradient shifts to bright blue at the top, and have wavy edges.

During late spring, the creeper produces hundreds of average dark grey flowers.

It is very rare outside of a particular area.
It is frequently struck by lightning.
The bark, wood and leaves are edible.
It is suitable for making baskets and the like
