This lime green moss is commonly found growing in small clumps In bogs, and On rotten logs.
It is short, growing up to 2 inches (5 cm) tall. It forms in large clumps, and is overwhelmingly flimsy.
When mature, emerald kidney-shaped capsules grow at the end of short, lime green sporophytes, eventually opening up during the late summer to release millions of spores; it can cause allergic reactions.

Once on fire, it burns very quickly.
It out-competes most other plants for nutrients and light.
