Burgundy Spine Cactus

Succulent type: Stem succulent (Stores water in its stem)

This small cactus grows up to 10 feet (3.0 meters) tall. The thin stem is burgundy, and is covered in large amounts of rigid purple spines. The spherical body is red, and is covered in lots of rigid pastel orange spines.

It is steady-growing, taking 13 months to reach maturity. Once mature, a single flower with hazel petals that gradient shift to sky blue on the outer edge. The central disk is ashy green grows at the top, reappearing every year. The flower head is an uncoordinated mess of 10 curved petals. It has a faint scent that smells like old books.

The cactus's skin is thick, the azure flesh is leathery, and the ashy green sap is thin.


It blooms only at night.
It is suitable for creating tough, hard-wearing textiles
