Clinging Vinefruit
Fruit Tree type: Deciduous (Grows upwards by clinging to almost any surface.)This small fruit tree grows up to 9 feet (2.7 meters) tall and lives for up to 10 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 23 years old. It is somewhat resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.
It has a branched, straight trunk covered in delicate, knobbly, brown and grey bark, and inside, the soft wood is dark brown.
The tangled mess of branches trail down to the ground and are covered with copious amounts of miniature, asymmetrical leaves with smooth edges. The leaves themselves are purple at the bottom and violet with azure zig-zags at the top.
In early spring, it produces a handful of large, hazel blossoms with slender, pointed petals. They fall easily and have a delicate scent that smells like freshly baked bread.
In early winter it produces , circular fruit. The rubbery drab green skin is peel-able and sweet and salty, and the very soft grey flesh is spicy and sour and dry. The light brown seeds are large and are dotted around on the skin of the fruit.
The roots form a tightly packed ball, and overall the tree is sturdy and rigid.
Forests of this species feature the trees packed together, with grassy ground between them.
