Climbing Skybloom

This big flower grows up to 3.6 feet (1.1 meters) tall. Its red stem is very thin and splits into many branching stems three quarters of the way up, and the giant, sky blue leaves are finger-like with smooth edges. The leaves alternate on the stem from about halfway up, up to the flower head.

A single tiny flower sits at the end of the stem. The flowers are 23 cm (9.1 inches) wide, with petals that are either purple or cyan, with a yellow center. The flower head is made up of 35 petals; the lower layer of petals are flat, while the upper layers form a tight dish. They are sturdy.

It has a powerful scent that smells like honeysuckle, and it has very little pollen; it can cause allergic reactions. It is a self-pollinator, but is also visited by a variety of insects.
